Mental Models

These short educational videos, created by Nottingham Trent University thanks to funding from The Road Safety Trust, explain the psychological reasons why car drivers often fail to spot motorcyclists on the road.

One video is aimed at motorcyclists, the other car drivers.

Among the 71 car drivers who viewed the video during the study, 92% reported a greater understanding of the causes behind car-motorcycle collisions. Motorcyclists also reacted positively to the intervention. After watching the video, 91% of 78 viewers said their awareness of the causes of collisions with cars had improved.
